FairLoc is a digital seal of assurance for genuine, human translations.
It supports human translation by giving translation buyers recognition for their sustainable choice. By spreading some awareness and love for the great work of human translators, writers and localisation experts, its ambition is to preserve human authenticity and stop AI-slop and re-creativity from taking over wherever translations exist.
The Client Orders a Human Translation
A client approaches their translation provider (an agency or a freelancer who is signed up as a FairLoc Ambassador) and orders a human translation – meaning the text is translated from scratch and not from an AI pre-translation.
The FairLoc Ambassador Completes the Translation
They can use machine translation and artificial intelligence for inspiration and research, however the entire process is directed and controlled by a human linguist at all stages.
The Stamp is Issued
The client is presented with a QR code and an image of the stamp with a link that they can display alongside the translated text. When readers scan the code or click on the link, they will see the details of the stamp and can confirm its validity.
The Stamp Spreads!
As more and more stamps are issued, the FairLoc seal will spread – making a virtue of human translation and celebrating the authenticity of human translation. In a world increasingly full of AI slop, this will send the timely message that human creativity still matters. In fact, it matters now more than ever!
